Blog Development With Genesis WordPress Framework

A few years back I developed my first site with WordPress. Instead of utilizing it as a blog platform, I used it as a simple CMS for a friend’s music-related website. After being live for a few months, the site was hacked and I was at a loss for answers. Someone had injected a Javascript redirect that we were unable to uncover. After doing tons of Google searches and trying several solutions for hacked WordPress sites, we discovered a complete re-installation and database creation was our only solution.

This single experience made me cringe every time I heard somebody bring up WordPress. My perception was that it was unstable and vulnerable to outside manipulations. Little did I know that installing upgrades immediately upon their release would help alleviate most of my concerns regarding WordPress development.

A few months ago, I got over these irrational concerns and began seeking out WordPress frameworks for developing my own blog. While I played around a bit with the free frameworks Thematic and Roots, I felt the integration curb was a little too great to overcome. While these free frameworks provided plenty of support forums and online communities, I just felt something was missing.

At first I was hesitant to pay for the theme since there were so many free framework options out there. But after all is said and done, the $59.95 I paid for unlimited installations and updates was well worth it. Genesis support is extremely quick and their community is chock-full-of helpful questions and answers that help with rapid troubleshooting. While I’m not doing anything incredibly complex, I’m still finding my way around WordPress and like the feeling of being able to get quick and accurate responses.

Genesis also allows for extreme flexibility and the ability to expand to all your needs. I don’t know what’s taken me so long, but I really have fallen in love with the Genesis Framework. Finally happy developing in WordPress!
